High school teams interrupted due to tornado warnings

NILES – Hot, humid temperatures changed almost instantly Tuesday afternoon as a cold front approached the area, bringing some ferocious storms with it.
Several area high school teams were in the middle of games when the dark clouds moved in. Athletes and spectators were moved off the fields and instructed to take cover.
The Buchanan vs. Bridgman softball/baseball Lakeland Conference doubleheader games were canceled not long after they began.
The softball game is rescheduled for Friday at Bridgman High School.
The Lady Bucks had a 2-0 lead after two full innings of play.
The Brandywine baseball and softball teams hosted Edwardsburg, but only were able to get a few innings in. The games will be played tonight, beginning at 4 p.m.
The Niles JV baseball and softball teams will resume games this afternoon at 4 p.m. as the two will host Mattawan.
The Vikes' varsity teams will head back to Mattawan. Softball will begin at 4:30 p.m., with baseball beginning at 4.
