NILES – Early Saturday morning a former Brandywine student was found dead, from what Michigan State Police said appeared to be self-inflicted wounds.
It appears that the man, from Mishawaka, Ind., returned to the high school from which he graduated in the early 1980s.
Michigan State Police are still investigating what happened after the man drove his car to the parking lot behind the school. He was discovered slumped over the steering wheel.
An off-duty Sheriff's Deputy, out for a morning walk with his dog, assisted in keeping the students and parents, arriving for a junior varsity baseball tournament, away from the scene.
Interim Superintendent of Brandywine Schools, Karen Wiesner, and Board Chairperson, Phil Bozung were at the scene after being called and alerted about the incident shortly after 9 a.m. Saturday morning.
No name has been released as the notification of next-of-kin and the investigation continues.
