Volunteers work long and hard to make sure our local ballparks stay in tip-top shape throughout the summer months.
Trash is picked up on an almost daily basis, concession stands are scrubbed and mopped, benches are cleared of any left over drinks or food items, and that's only a small portion of what goes on.
The Niles area is known for having some very nice facilities. People traveling here for tournaments from other cities and states often comment on the conditions of our fields, because they are very well taken care of.
You can help keep this trend going. It's very simple!
Just make sure you dispose of any trash you may have brought to the park. This includes drinks, candy wrappers, plastic bags and any of items that can be thrown away. If you see trash lying around, get a quick 30 seconds of exercise and pitch it, even if it doesn't belong to you.
Also, check into volunteering your time to help. It takes just a small amount of time a week and so much can be done.
Let's keep the good reputation going for all of the youth ballparks.
