Bucks claim 7-1 win over Chieftains Friday

DOWAGIAC – Dowagiac got a good look at defending Division 3 regional tennis champion Buchanan on Friday afternoon.
The Chieftains hosted the Bucks in a non-conference match, which was played under sunny skies and in warm temperatures.
Dowagiac managed just one win against Buchanan in a 7-1 setback.
Senior Josue Miranda defeated Harper Sulier at No. 2 singles, 7-6 and 6-1, to earn Dowagiac's lone victory.
There were several other very competitive matches on Friday.
Buchanan's Brad Burner picked up a three-set victory over Andre Porto at No. 4 singles.
Burner earned a 3-6, 7-6 and 6-0 win over Porto.
At No. 4 doubles, Buchanan's Andrew Scoggin and Grayson Oake defeated Joshua Jerz and D.J. Tartt, 6-4 and 6-3.
On Saturday, the Bucks traveled to the Muskegon Catholic Invitational and took second place with a score of 14 points. No. 7 ranked Spring Lake won the tournament, just getting past the Bucks with a score of 15 points.
Flight champions on the day were Mario Bonardi (No. 2 singles), Brad Burns (No. 4 singles) and Dillon Bailey and Andrew Frederick (No. 2 doubles).
