NILES – The Niles varsity soccer team fell to Lakeshore, 4-1 Monday evening.
The Vikings started slow and unorganized in the first half; giving up four goals before the half-time horn.
The second half was a different story. Niles controlled play and managed to outscore the Lancers in the second half.
Head coach Denise Peters said Allison Ott, Meghan Horn, Sarah Tyler and Raphella Reigger played extremely strong for us in the offensive positions. Strong midfield play by Mandie Pingel, Kaitlyn Touhey and Britney Molnar held the Vikings constant in the second half. Abby Mitchell, Brianna Cramer and Rachel Smith pulled together for an organized second half defensive game with communication and strong play.
"The Vikings are young, but have great depth. It is just finding the right combinations that are most productive. Everything will come together," Peters added.
Niles JV Soccer won 1-0 with a score from Ali Wakeman. Katie Butler played strong in the goal for the Vikings along with great midfield play.
