St. Mary’s tennis team drops three matches

MADISON, Wis. – Saint Mary's dropped all three of its matches over the weekend at the Midwest Invitational hosted at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
They lost their opening round match to N0. 29 ranked Wisconsin-LaCrosse 8-1, which put them in the consolation bracket were they lost 5-4 to Wisconsin-Whitewater on Friday. The Belle were defeated by Wisconsin-Eau Claire on Saturday.
Former Dowagiac standout Lisa Rubino defeated Kara Theis of Wisconsin-Whitewater in No. 3 singles on Friday, 3-6, 6-4 and 1-0 (10-7). In No. 3 doubles action, she and partner Erin Kaplan were defeated 8-5.
Against LaCrosse, Rubino was defeated by Julie Tellefsen, 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-3) in singles. Rubino and Caplen were also defeated in doubles, 8-1.
On Saturday against Eau Claire, Rubino defeated Laura Geisslen 6-4 and 6-1. In doubles play, she and Kaplan lost 8-5.
St. Mary's is now 7-9 on the season.
