NILES – Because of recent school closings due to weather, the enrollment deadline at Niles Adult Education has been extended to Monday, Feb. 19, for new students to become eligible for free GED testing or to secure a seat for high school diploma classes in the spring semester.
Niles Adult Education is located on the second floor of the Westside Administrative Center at 111 Spruce St. Anyone who has not completed high school and is at least 18 years of age is encouraged to visit the Niles Adult Education office and sign up for classes. Programs are available for completing a high school diploma, earning the GED or improving the basic skills of reading, writing and math.
An academic advisor is available to provide information, discuss options and complete enrollment. Office hours are Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on a walk-in basis.
Classes are offered Monday through Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Students may begin immediately. Attendance time is flexible to accommodate work and family obligations. Courses are individualized and students work at their own pace.
Many students find that they are much closer to completing the requirements for a diploma than they thought due to credit awarded for parenting and work experience, or through testing. For those who seek a GED, testing dates are scheduled for March 6 and 7, April 10 and 11, May 8 and 9, and May 30 and May 31.
There is no charge for the classes and all materials are provided. For more information call (269) 684-4480 or stop in at Niles Adult Education Office.
