BUCHANAN – Miss Buchanan 2007 is Dana Vorrath.
The 17-year-old senior at Buchanan High School was crowned Saturday night in front of a packed auditorium during the Miss Buchanan 2007 "Viva Las Vegas" pageant. She wore a turquoise charmeuse gown designed with a sweet heart neckline, outlined in iridescent rhinestones and sapphire crystals.
First runner-up for 2007 is Kathryn Dreitzler, second runner-up is Amber Williams and Robyn Bahr is Miss Congeniality. Winning $500 scholarships were Jessica Welsh (Buchanan Masonic Lodge), Kelsey Castle (Kristi Cagampang Memorial Scholarship), Allie Wesner (Robert Luke Memorial Scholarship), Ashley Ferrell (Dale Rifenberg Memorial Scholarship), and Samantha Blevins (Jack Shrider Memorial Scholarship).
When asked what she would change if made president of the United States for one day, Vorrath said she would "bring our troops home." She added a pastor she knows has been away serving for one year already and will miss his daughter's graduation and son's soccer games.
Vorrath, the daughter of Randy and Sandra Vorrath, plans to attend a four-year college to study pre-dental and then apply to a dental school to become an orthodontist. She has previously been named Four Flags Area Apple Festival Queen in 2005.
Vorrath is currently the varsity soccer captain, captain of the color guard, a member of the varsity cross country team, the band and National Honor Society, and played the lead in the play, "Cinderella."
Also while at Buchanan, Vorrath has been co-captain of the varsity cheerleading squad for three years, a member of the Spanish club and a volunteer for the McCoy's Creek clean up.
