Niles junior varsity, freshmen teams breeze by Brandywine

NILES – The Niles junior varsity and freshmen basketball teams defeated Brandywine to earn a spot in the championship games.
In junior varsity action, Asaad Ali and Kenley Fuller led the Viking offense with 12 points each. Brandywine's Christopher Rose led with 15 points. Greg Beaver and Shane Bankston both had seven points.
"It was a good win for us," Niles junior varsity coach Ivery Cross said. "It's always nice to come home and get a win here because we've only got two more home games until we go on a long nine-game road trip."
Lake Michigan Catholic will face Brandywine in the runners-up game prior to the championship game between Niles and Coloma at 2 p.m.
The Niles freshmen basketball team defeated Brandywine 66-57.
The two teams were knotted at 57-57 with just over three minutes to play.
The Vikings outscored the Bobcats 9-0 over that span to pull away to the victory.
Niles' Cameron Sly led all scorers with 23 points. David Garner chipped in with 10 points.
Brandywine was paced by Cody Pierson's 13 points. DaKoda Udell finished with 12 points.
