Freshmen, JV spikers sweep South Haven

The Dowagiac freshmen volleyball team gained a measure of revenge Thursday night against visiting South Haven.
The Chieftains defeated the Lady Rams 25-22 and 25-11 to erase the memory of a loss last Saturday to South Haven at its invitational tournament.
Joanna Pickar led Dowagiac with six digs, one kill and three aces. Dowagiac also got four digs and five aces from Alyssa Greenwood, while Tiffany Tyus led the team in assists. Tyus also had a kill.
The freshmen squad returns to action on Saturday when it travels to Three Oaks to compete in the River Valley Invitational.
JV volleyball
The junior varsity squad rallied from a 16-25 loss in the opening game to defeat the Lady Rams.
Dowagiac won the second game 25-12 and then the third and deciding game 15-13.
Yasmine Chambliss had two solo blocks and a kill for the Chieftains, who also got six aces from Stephany Gross.
Morgan Tanzillo and Kristan Stelmasiak both finished with three kills.
