Eighth grade Black team gets win

The Dowagiac Middle School Black team posted a 40-32 victory over visiting South Haven on Wednesday.
The Chieftains were led by Troy Butcher's nine points. Brother Tremail Butcher finished with seven points, while Jason Turner chipped in with six points.
Dowagiac also got five points from Cody Carnell, four points from Corey Rodgers and three points from Mike Pranschke. Scoring two points for the Chieftains were Darius Wilson, Buddy Neumann and Anthony Nelson.
Dowagiac (3-6) will host Lakeshore today at 4 p.m.
The Orange team was defeated by visiting South Haven, 29-17.
Spencer Breitenstein scored four points to lead the Chieftains, who also got three points from Tyler Dean, Logan Slabaugh and Athony Russell.
Scoring two points were Max Howe and Ryan McCuddy.
Seventh grade
The seventh grade Orange team used a big third quarter to pick up a 27-23 victory over South Haven Wednesday afternoon.
The Black team also came away with a victory as it defeated the Rams, 58-28.
Jeremy Juday led the Orange team with 12 points, while Paul Hyde finished with 11 points.
Dowagiac also got two points from Ryne Willming and Sam Courtney.
The Black team was paced by Craig Zebell and Jacob Williams, both of whom scored 11 points.
Anthony Banks and James Holder both finished with 10 points, while Chris Gantt added eight points.
Dowagiac also got six points from Eric Charles and two points from Tony Brooks.
The Chieftains are back in action today when they travel to Stevensville to take on Lakeshore.
