City crews completed leaf collection for the season last week.
Three full passes were finished and a final spot run was made to collect piles late in being put on the curb.
In addition, a Saturday brush collection pass was made to close out that process for the season.
Crews then turned their attention to snow removal and winter maintenance projects.
Water tower
returns to service
Rotary Park's water tank was reported to be working well after returning to service.
Training for the new sludge press at the wastewater treatment plant was completed last week. The unit continued to work extremely well.
As indicated previously, the city needs to upgrade the water service line to the building housing the press sometime soon to get necessary water pressure to support operation of the equipment.
Cell tower footing
put in industrial park
The footing for the new Horvath cell tower in the industrial park was installed and approved last week.
The footing is 42 feet deep by eight feet in diameter and contains more than 7,600 pounds of steel re-enforcement.
The footing itself contains more than 60 yards of concrete.
Because of the high water table and pressurization requirements, the concrete was poured underwater from the bottom up, according to City Manager Bill Nelson.
"We expect that the contractor will allow the concrete to cure for a couple of weeks before installation of the monopole tower," Nelson reported.
Medical arts facility
proceeding rapidly
The medical arts building was also moving along rapidly. Rough plumbing approval was issued last Tuesday for the first floor.
Rough mechanical and rough sprinkler installation were approved Wednesday for the entire building. It is expected that rough electrical approval will be issued shortly. Approximately one fourth of the building had exterior masonry in place by Dec. 1.
Roof framing for the false pitched roof should be completed this week. All interior stairways, framing and windows have been completed. The contractor expected to insulate and heat the first floor in the next week so that drywall can be installed.
