The Dowagiac boys' and girls' cross country teams did not have enough runners to field a team for Tuesday's Wolverine Conference mini-jamboree hosted by Comstock High School.
Chris Ryan of Vicksburg was the boys' overall winner with a time of 16:39. Ross Cousins, also of Vicksburg, finished second with a time of 16:44.
Dowagiac's top finisher was Eric Morton, who placed 22nd with a time of 18:59. John Morseau was 23rd with a clocking of 19:01, while Jason Fryman finished 30th with a time of 19:33.
Brandon Wilson was 41st with a time of 23:52.
Molly Waterhouse of Vicksburg was the girls' overall winner with a time of 18:07. Jenna Matthews of Otsego finished second with a clocking of 18:29.
Chelsey Preston was Dowagiac's top finisher as she placed 33rd with a time of 24:31. Stephanie Muha and Ali Hess were 36th and 41st with times of 26:55 and 29:57 respectively.
"With just a little help today both the boys and girls could have beat some teams," Dowagiac coach Ken Jordan said. "Most of our kids ran their best times of the season. We'll get another shot next Tuesday at the conference meet and we hope to field full teams for that."
The Chieftains will host the Rock 'N Run on Thursday at the Dowagiac Middle School.
The meet is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
