Dowagiac City Council Monday night set a public hearing for its Sept. 25 meeting to consider Auto-cam Pax's requested industrial facilities tax (IFT) exemption.
The tax break applies to expansion and improvement of its 201 Percy St. facility valued at $625,000 and the purchase of $3,421,980 in new machinery and equipment.
Auto-cam Pax will create 44 new jobs and retain 46 employees as a result of this investment.
According to city Economic Development Director Sandra Gower, the $625,000 in upgrades to an existing building include a $350,000 electrical system, $50,000 heating and cooling systems and a $50,000 shipping dock.
In addition to those building improvements, the $3,421,980 worth of equipment has been installed at the Dowagiac facility from a Canadian facility closed by parent Autocam Inc.
