Dowagiac golfers come up short at jamboree

The Dowagiac varsity golf team did not play well on Monday at the Wolverine Conference Jamboree hosted by Comstock.
The Chieftains finished ninth at the latest jamboree, which was won by Plainwell with a score of 149.
Otsego and Vicksburg tied with a 152, however, the Bulldogs were second based on five-man scoring. Gull Lake finished fourth with a 153, while South Haven was fifth with a 156. Allegan finished in sixth place after shooting a 164. Comstock was seventh with a team total of 169.
Dowagiac and Three Rivers tied with a 178, however, the Wildcats won the tiebreaker to take eighth place. Paw Paw finished 10th with a score of 197.
Nick Krizinski's round of 41 led Dowagiac. The Chieftains also got a 44 from Kevin Proshwitz, a 46 from Tanner Melvin, a 47 from Richie Hutchinson and a 52 from Mike Hoff.
The Chieftains are back in action on Wednesday when they host Edwardsburg in a non-conference match at Hampshire Country Club. The match will begin at 4 p.m.
