Law enforcement from the Pokagon Band and Berrien County Sheriff's Office are teaming up to better serve the customers of the Four Winds Casino Resort and local residents.
Pokagon Band police presented keys to the sheriff's office for a newly-opened casino substation at 2 p.m. Thursday.
Berrien Sheriff L. Paul Bailey, Undersheriff Charles Heit and Chief Deputy Samuel Harris will also receive their law enforcement commissions as Pokagon tribal police officers from Dowagiac-based Capt. Michael Jungel, Pokagon Band law enforcement director.
The substation is located at 19279 Kinst Road in New Buffalo Township and is a shared facility for both agencies.
