Junior Holly Lowe and senior Elijah Caldwell have been named the Daily News Athletes of the Week for April 10-15.
Lowe helped Dowagiac to a 6-1 record by hitting .625 (15-for-24) with five doubles, seven RBIs and eight runs scored.
Caldwell captured first place in 100- and 200-meters in the Chieftains' season opener against Lakeshore. He also anchored the winning 1,600-meter relay team.
Each week a male and female athlete are nominated by the Dowagiac coaches. Those nominations are received by Dowagiac Athletic Director Greg Younger, who then sends them on to the Daily News.
From those nominations two Athletes of the Week are selected.
