Niles volleyball team finishes 11th in Big 16

NILES - The Niles varsity volleyball team finished 11th in the Big 16 after posting a 2-2 record on at the conference tournament.
The Vikes took a 25-21, 25-16 win over Dowagiac and a 25-19, 28-26 win over Marshall.
Niles fell to Battle Creek Central 25-14 and 25-10 and fell to Sturgis 25-9 and 25-18.
The Vikes were led by Brittney Passig with eight kills, three blocks, two aces and two digs. Katie Bourbainnas had seven kills, one block, three aces and three digs. Maddy Peterek had eight kills, two aces and 13 digs.
Claire Molnar had four kills and 11 digs. Karly Kennedy had three kills and 10 digs. Sam Brawley had 35 digs. Torii Mitchell had four aces and eight digs. Abby Mitchell had 12 digs. Kylee Mudd had five kills, one block and three digs and Kayla Copper had three kills, one block, one ace and one dig for Niles.
Niles will compete in the district tournament on Saturday, where it will face host Lakeshore at 11:30 a.m.
The Vikes are currently 20-19 on the season.
