NILES - The Niles Community Schools Board of Education would like to invite community members to a public information meeting they are holding to explain and answer questions about the proposed bond issue which will go before voters on Feb. 28, 2005.
Voters will be asked to approve a millage of $108 million in order to build a new high school and make additions and renovations to existing buildings in the district, allowing the district to close four buildings and cut back on operation costs. The millage would be for 7 mills, and be paid out over a 37 year time period.
A presentation will be offered at the high school on Wednesday, Jan. 11. The purpose of the meeting will be to give the citizens of the community information regarding three specific things:
The process which led to this proposal
Specific details of the proposal
Tax implications of the proposal
The meeting will last approximately one hour.
The Board feels the bond is an important issue for the children and community. They urge community members to take the opportunity to attend the information session.
If members of the community have any questions or are not able to attend the session on Wednesday, please feel free to call the Superintendent's Office at (269) 683-0732 information.
