There's no school.
Local school children in Dowagiac, as well as the surrounding communities, woke up this morning to find out they were going to get their first snow day of the school year.
Snow started falling across Michiana Thursday afternoon and created some harsh conditions.
Young said the major concern for this afternoon and evening is the blowing and drifting of the snow.
The good news is the weather should calm down a bit over the next few days.
In the coming week Young said temperatures will be well below normal in terms of temperatures, which means the newly accumulated snow shouldn't melt.
Chief Meteorologist Mike Hoffman at WNDU Channel 16 is predicting temperatures to be close to normal, but slightly colder than normal at times.
Hoffman is also predicting slightly more snow for the Michiana area, with big snow storms from time to time. Finally, there is a possibility of snow melting off from time to time in warm spells.
