NILES - Brandywine and Dowagiac will be going head-to-head today at noon for a chance at claiming the Division 3 district soccer title at Edwardsburg High School.
The Bobcats will be looking to grab their first district championship win, while the Chieftains hope to reclaim their title, as they took the crown last year.
The 2004 title was the first in school history for the Chieftains.
Most didn't even picture these two teams in the final game together, as Edwardsburg and Bridgman were the favorites. But when the teams met on the field, that all changed.
On Wednesday, Brandywine took a 2-0 win over the Bees to earn their spot in today's game.
Matt Beaver was the first to score for the Bobcats in the first half and Kyle Low scored the second goal in the second half. Both goals were assisted by Matt Wieger.
In Dowagiac's game against the Eddies, Tony Black opened up the scoring during the 50th minute and Brian Edgerly sealed the victory 10 minutes later with a goal for the 2-0 win.
Brandywine enters today's game with a 9-8-3 record, while Dowagiac stands at 10-8-2.
