The topic of Democracy Club's discussion meting on Wednesday evening was the upcoming vote on the millage for Southwestern Michigan College.
John Fannin, an SMC vice president, addressed and took questions from one of the largest discussion meeting turnouts in the history of the club.
After he left, the group discussed the issue among themselves and the club members present then voted to support the millage, according to President Myron Miller of Dowagiac.
Democracy Club promotes the interests of ordinary Americans, good government and democracy and has been chartered as a local democratic club by the Michigan Democratic Party.
Its membership represents a cross section of the community and includes members of the working/middle class, organized labor, professionals, business owners, veterans, students, individuals with disabilities and seniors who all believe that the only way to improve our government is for ordinary people to stop being complacent, become educated on the issues and participate in the political process. Wednesday's discussion and vote show the relevance of the Democracy Club in the Community.
