O’Bryant ties Punt, Pass &Kick record

KALAMAZOO - Jayme O'Bryant, 14, Buchanan's own three-time State Punt, Pass &Kick champion has once again qualified to compete for the 2005 State championship title to be held at the Detroit Lions Ford Field on Dec.4, during halftime when the Lions play the Minnesota Vikings.
This will be Jayme's sixth year in a row that she has qualified to compete at a Lion's game for the State title.
This appearance ties Jayme for the most appearances at a State competition. Jayme currently is tied for the most State championship titles, having won in 2004, 2002 and 2000.
Jayme won the local competition in the 14 and 15 year-old division sponsored by Buchanan Rocket Football and the Buchanan Area Recreation Board with a score of 284 feet on Sept. 18.
She then won the sectional competition in Kalamazoo on Oct. 8 with a score of 317 feet.
After Kalamazoo, the scores were compiled from the 17 sectional competitions in Michigan and the top five scores in each age division advance to the State competition. Jayme's score has ranked her in first place going into the competition.
Jayme is a freshman at Buchanan High School. She plays on the girl's varsity basketball team, Michiana Mystique traveling softball team, a member of the 2005 McDonald/Mitsubishi All-Star softball team and works at Sonny's in Buchanan. She is the daughter of John and Juli O'Bryant.
