NILES - The search for a missing Buchanan women concluded Wednesday afternoon when her body was discovered, apparently by a family member out looking for her.
Myra Octavia-Taylor Alexander, 23, was found at about 3:30 p.m. near her gray 1991 Oldsmobile Bravado some 80 feet off the road near the intersection of Niles-Buchanan and Mayflower Roads, said Bill Marx, Buchanan City Police Chief.
Sgt. J.T. Adkerson of the Buchanan City Police Department added friends of Myra enlisted the help of a physic to help find her location.
Marx said it appears Myra was traveling northbound on Mayflower Road at a high rate of speed and didn't stop for the stop sign at the Niles-Buchanan and Mayflower Road intersection. She then hit the guard-rail and the vehicle traveled into the dense tree-and brush-lined ditch.
Marx added it was very hard to see the vehicle because of its gray color and the amount of brush covering it.
In it's present location as it's gray in color and the brush makes it hard to see.
The county road commission reported on Monday the damage to the guard-rail at the intersection, but with the amount of guard-rails in the county they didn't think much of it.
Marx reported shortly after Myra's body was found family members had been notified and were handling it quite rough.
Troopers from the Michigan State Police Niles Post will conduct the investigation as to what happened in the incident.
Also responding to the scene on Wednesday, were the Buchanan City Police Department, Niles Township Police Department, SMCAS Ambulance Service and the Berrien County medical examiner from Lakeland Hospital.
Myra's mother, Fredrina Alexander reported to the Buchanan Police Department on Monday that the family had had no contact with Myra since late on Friday, Oct. 7. The family became worried as Myra had made no attempts to contact them about taking care of her two daughters, who were being taken care of by her sister, according to the police.
