Two charged with home invasions

Cass County Prosecutor Victor Fitz authorized charges against two local men accusing them of invading two Second Ward homes Tuesday.
The first suspect, J.B. Junior Nunley Jr., 40, of 24063 Dewey Lake St., is charged with home invasion in the 300 block of Orchard Street, conspiracy to commit home invasion, assault with intent to rob unarmed, assault to do great bodily harm less than murder and habitual offender, fourth.
In the 100 block of Hamilton Street, Nunley is alleged to have committed home invasion, assault to rob while armed and habitual offender, fourth.
Fourth District Judge Paul E. Deats at arraignment on Wednesday in Cassopolis set Nunley's bond at $500,000, cash or surety in each file.
The second suspect, Gary Wayne Kelly Sr., 37, no permanent address, Dowagiac, is charged on Orchard Street with conspiracy to commit home invasion, assault with intent to rob unarmed, assault to do great bodily harm less than murder and habitual offender, second.
Charges levied against Kelly on Hamilton Street include home invasion, conspiracy to commit home invasion, assault with intent to rob unarm and habitual offender, second.
Deats set bond for Kelly at $200,000 cash or surety.
Dowagiac Police Chief Tom Atkinson said the second home invasion and assault happened about 8 p.m. Oct. 4 in the 100 block of Hamilton Street.
An earlier home invasion occurred in the 300 block of Orchard Street about 3:30 a.m.
Members of the Avengers motorcycle club were in the area during the second home invasion and cornered one of the fleeing suspects after hearing the female victim calling for help. They then directed police to the area.
