NILES - A very physical game ended in favor of visiting Watervliet Grace Christian Tuesday evening as Brandywine's varsity soccer team suffered a 2-1 loss.
Both teams remained scoreless after the first half of play, with the ball bouncing back and forth the entire first 40 minutes.
Grace Christian was the first to score in the second half, but the Bobcats came back to tie the game at one when Matt Wieger assisted a pass to matt Beaver, who laced a shot by the keeper to the near post.
Although Watervliet scored the final goal of the game late in the second, Bobcat coach Jim McNamara said that his team kept the pressure on and nearly tied the game many of times.
The Bobcats will host Edwardsburg on Monday for a Lakeland Conference game, set to begin at 7 p.m.
