NILES - The Michigan State Police Niles Post report the arrest of two subjects believed to have been involved in the recent theft of money boxes from local yard sales, including a strong armed robbery of one female citizen, according to a MSP police report.
On Saturday, Sept. 17, Trooper Tim Thompson initiated an investigation when two yard sales thefts were reported and the suspect and method of operation fit both incidents, the report stated.
A total of five incidents involving the same suspects have been reported by Michigan and Indiana police agencies since the original incidents, the report said.
On Sunday, Oct. 2, troopers from the Niles post and Cass County Sheriff's Department deputies received radio information that another theft from a local yard sale occurred in the area, the report said.
A description of the suspects' vehicle was given, which resulted in a traffic stop and the subsequent arrest of Shawn Terrance Imus, 36, address unknown, and Nicole Marie Bicard, 21, address unknown, the report stated. Both subjects have been charged with numerous counts including other unrelated incidents. Immediately following their arrests, both subjects confessed to their participation in the yard sale thefts, the report said.
Detective Fabian Suarez, of the Michigan State Police, advised that the investigation is continuing.
