NILES - Niles' varsity golf team joined 16 other schools Monday afternoon at Thornapple Creek Golf Course for the SMAC Conference match, where the Vikes placed ninth.
Coldwater was the overall winner, with Portage Central finishing second and Mattawan placing third.
Individually for Niles, Alex Welch shot an 80, D.J. Wolnick an 83, Jeff Jurgonski an 86, Nick Horn a 91, Scott Majerek a 94 and Chris Haas a 95.
The Vikes will host South Haven on Wednesday at Orchard Hills Country Club with tee time set for 3 p.m.
On Thursday, Niles will begin district play in Plainwell at the Lake Doster Golf Course.
