Dowagiac boys’ cross country team finishes sixth

BERRIEN SPRINGS - Led by a pair of top 10 finishes, Dowagiac finished sixth out of 17 teams at the Berrien Springs Invitational on Wednesday.
Jason Tabbert and Brad Lee finished sixth and eighth respectively for the Chieftains, who scored 167 points. Niles was the boy's overall winner with 51 points. Lawrence was second with 109 points.
Tabbert and Lee ran 18:26 and 18:42 respectively to earn medalist honors. Also earning a medal was Evan Bressler, who was 21st with a time of 19:31. Oscar Azevedo finished 67th (21:36), Eric Morton finished 93rd (23:17) and Tony Saviano finished 94th (23:44).
Bangor won the girl's portion of the meet with 74 points. Berrien Springs was second with 91. Dowagiac was 11th out of 15 teams with 273 points.
Niles Samantha Brawley was the overall winner with a time of 20:51.
Kayla Saviano finished 40th for Dowagiac with a time of 25:17. Crissy Huff was 46th (25:40), Katie Hewitt 69th (27:31), Chelsey Preston 70th (27:35), Ashley Willis 82nd (28:29) and Catie Hamilton 86th (29:28).
