BUCHANAN - Dancing and eating aren't usually associated with hiking and biking, unless the event is a fundraiser for the McCoy Creek Trail.
The Friends of the McCoy Creek Trail are hosting the first annual McCoy's Creek Trail Fest.
The event will be a dinner dance and silent auction and is taking place on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2005, from 6 to 11 p.m.
The event is being held at Pebblewood Country Club, located at 9794 Jericho Road, in Bridgman.
The cost for the event is $40 per person, with $20 of the ticket price being considered a charitable contribution.
There will be a cash bar and the Doug Leiter Band will be performing.
For more information on tickets please contact Deanna Swem at (269) 695-0939 or deannaswem@yahoo.com or Kelly Sutton at (269) 695-2242.
The Friends of the McCoy Creek Trail are volunteers who are working to build a hiking and biking trail in Buchanan.
The project is being worked on in three phases.
In the next 12 months the group is looking to complete phase one of the project," Pat Boyle of the Friends of the McCoy Creek Trail said.
This will include connecting the McCoy's Pond Park portion of the trail with the E.B. Clark Woods portion and then moving onto phase two.
Phase two will follow McCoy Creek from the Tin Shop to the parks and recreation area across from the Buchanan High School athletic fields.
The members of the Friends of the McCoy Creek Trail committee have learned the virtue of patience over the past year as they have tackled everything from legalities of procuring property easements to applying for and completing the required environmental permits.
The group greatly appreciates the support of its members, project volunteers and trail patrons.
