NILES - Some residents might be enjoying the warm temperatures, but the Niles Street Department is thinking about snow.
Two construction projects have been underway at the Niles airport the last eight weeks and are nearing completion.
The first of the two projects is the construction of a storage building for the City of Niles, Department of Public Works street division snow removal equipment.
Coulston added, "Having the equipment stored at the airport makes it far more convenient for plowing operations and will provide the street division with much more storage room for other equipment."
The second project currently being done at the airport is the paving of some of the taxi ways.
Both of the projects are paid for through the use of Federal Aviation Administration funds, which cover approximately 90 percents of the costs, with the other 10 percent of the costs coming from the Michigan Bureau of Aeronautics funds and the local airport funds.
