City tennis tournament begins July 30

It's time to register for the Dowagiac City Tennis Tournament.
The singles tournament will be held at Dowagiac Union High School's courts on Saturday, July 30 and Sunday, July 31.
Deadline to register is Wednesday, July 27. The tournament pairings will be posted at the tennis courts on Thursday, July 28. Some matches will be played on Friday, July 29 at 6:30 p.m.
First round matches will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, July 30.
Cost remains $5 per person for the singles tournament. Residents of Cass County, a graduate of Dowagiac Union High School and current or former members of the Dowagiac Tennis Association are eligible to compete.
Matches will be the best of three sets with a 12-point tiebreaker used in all sets.
Balls will be furnished for all matches. The tournament is a single elimination format with a consolation round for those who wish to play. The board reserves the right to cancel an event if not enough entries are received for that event.

Last year Lisa Rubino and Larry Watson won the singles championships.
For Watson it was his 13th singles championship.
For Rubino is was her second consecutive tournament championship.
The doubles and mixed doubles tournaments will be held Saturday, Aug. 6 and Sunday, Aug. 7. Deadline for entry is Wednesday, Aug. 3.
