Intensity wins title

NILES - The Intensity Girls Fastpitch Softball team, comprised of girls aged 13 and 14 who participate in the Greater Niles-Brandywine Softball Association, won the Michigan NSA Class B Girls 14 and Under state title last weekend near Lansing.
The team won six consecutive state tourney games to claim the crown.
Intensity started by defeating the Michigan Panthers by the score of 13-1. Kendra Zache was the winning pitcher with five strikeouts.
Delaina Schroeder, Holly Lucas and Zache led the offense with three hits each while Kaley Jones and Jenna Ignowski had two hits.
Next, Intensity defeated the Michigan Outlaws by the score of 10-0. Ignowski was the winning pitcher, sticking out 10 batters. Cricket Fisher and Brooke Coshow led the offense with two hits each while Patty Anton added an single and RBI.
In the closest game of the tourney, Intensity defeated the Petoskey Panthers by the score of 3-1. Ignowski got the win on the mound, sticking out nine batters while limiting the Panthers to two hits.
Maggie Ernsberger's key hit and 2 RBI's and Coshow's double paced Intensity.
Intensity then defeated the St. Clair Shores Vipers by the score of 10-3. Zache struck out 13 batters to gain the win. Zache, Ernsberger, Fisher and Schroeder all had two hits while Anton and Jones had one each.
In the winner's bracket final, Intensity defeated the Kalamazoo Klash by the score of 9-0 with Ignowski firing a two hit shut out. Fisher again led the offense withthree hits. The Klash came back through the losers bracket only to be defeated once again by Intensity, 10-3.
Zache handled the pitching chores sticking out 7 in the process and Ignowski paced the offense with 3 hits and Lucas with two hits.
The team returns to action this weekend competing in the Holland ASA State tourney.
