Festival Fives 5K run set for Saturday

CASSOPOLIS - One of the premier events during the Cassopolis Art &Music Festival is the all-new Festival Fives 5 mile run, 5k run and 5k fun walk.
The race, designed by Ron Gunn, features a flat, fast and scenic course. The race will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Broadway in downtown Cassopolis.
Runners and walkers will enjoy this course as it winds its way past Stone Lake, through the Village to beautiful Diamond Lake.
After following the shoreline, the course returns along the border of Diamond Lake Golf Course and finishes near the Historic Pioneer Log Cabin Museum.
First, second and third place awards will be given in 13 age groups for all three events.
Each participant will be given a Festival Fives Inaugural Race t-shirt provided by sponsor Midwest Energy Cooperative.
The awards ceremony will take place on the shores of Stone Lake in the Historic Pioneer Log Cabin Park at 11:30 a.m.
Participants can register at the Cassopolis/Vandalia Chamber of Commerce office at 120 South Broadway from 8:30-9:30 a.m. on race day.
The race registration fee is $12. Ample parking is available to all at the Cass County Historic Courthouse.
Runners and spectators are encouraged to arrive early and attend the pancake breakfast at the United Presbyterian Church of Cassopolis which will be taking place from 7:30 to 11 a.m.
Proceeds from the breakfast will go to Helping Hands of Cass County.
The Cassopolis Art &Music Festival will be June 24-26 in and around downtown Cassopolis.
