Bloomingdale man returning to prison

CASSOPOLIS - Kurt Shepard, 35, of 4775 38th St., Bloomingdale, is returning to prison for fourth-degree fleeing, 16 to 24 months; driving a vehicle with a license suspended, 93 days jail; operating a vehicle without insurance, credit for time served of 136 days; and tampering with an anhydrous container, two to four years. His terms are concurrent.
Shepard fled from police on Jan. 12 on Main Street in Jones after Cass sheriff's deputies attempted to stop his vehicle for equipment failure. Shepard fled in a cornfield and was apprehended.
Dodge said his record was atrocious before imposing his sentence. He is to pay costs of $160.
In other sentencings:
Douglas Beckwith, 23, (no address listed) Niles, received two years probation for attempted possession of a financial transaction devise on April 9, 2004, on Huntly Road, Niles. He is to pay a two-year probation fee as calculated by the probation officer, $120 in costs and restitution of $186.28.
Jeffrey Yant Jr., 25, 54092 Penn Road, Cassopolis, received 210 days jail for two counts of attempted uttering and publishing on Nov. 23 and Nov. 28, 2004, on Michigan-51 in Dowagiac. He cashed stolen checks in a Dowagiac store, acquiring more than $2,000. He must pay $120 in costs and $2,150 in restitution.
Joshua Brooks, 27, 315 North Lowe St., Dowagiac, received two year of probation for conspiracy to deliver marijuana on March 22 in Dowagiac, 90 days jail for possession with intent to deliver also on March 22. He must pay $980 costs and a probation supervision fee of $40 per month.
William Yuhas, 32, 65007 Wade Road, Cassopolis, two years probation and 270 days jail for assault with a dangerous weapon, a knife, against his ex-wife during an attempted reconciliation of their marriage on Sept. 11. He is to pay $920 in costs and a $960 probation supervision fee.
Dustin Drudge, 19, (no address listed), received 330 days jail for a probation violation from a July 2 conviction of breaking and entering a building and one year jail for second-degree home invasion, habitual offender second, on Jan. 25 on Redfield Road, Edwardsburg. He is to pay $240 costs, $2,545.37 restitution and the amounts remaining on restitution of $1,379, $450 in costs and $350 attorney fee.
