Lady Eddies finish second at Watervliet

The Edwardsburg varsity softball team lost to Watervliet in the finals of the Watervliet Invitational on Saturday.
The Lady Eddies (15-10) dropped a 10-0 decision to the Lady Panthers in the title tilt.
Edwardsburg defeated Eau Claire (12-7) and Athens (11-0).
Jenna Bowman (9-5) was 1-1 on the day pitching, while Sheila Stoops (3-1) was the winner against Athens.
Kelli Kretchman and Amanda McCracken had two hits for the Lady Eddies against Athens.
Against Eau Claire, Kristen Toney had three hits, while Sam Fritsche had two hits.
Vs. Coloma
The Edwardsburg varsity softball team was swept by host Coloma Tuesday afternoon in Lakeland Conference play.
Coloma took the first game 5-3 and then won the nightcap, 3-2.
The Lady Eddies drop to 15-12 on the season and 5-7 in the Lakeland Conference.
Jenna Bowman (9-6) took the loss in the first game as she allowed five runs on eight hits with a strike out.
The Lady Eddies managed just one hit in the contest.
Sheila Stoops (3-2) took the loss in the second game as she allowed three runs on three hits.
Edwardsburg outhit Coloma 7-3 on the contest, but committed six errors.
Kelli Kretchman and Kristen Toney both had two hits. Toney singled and doubled.
Edwardsburg returns to action today as they travel to Sturgis for a non-conference doubleheader scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
