Union High teachers Dan VandenHeede and Teri Frantz presented Bonnie Katlun of Mind Over Matters and Randy Melvin of D&R Sports with the seventh and eighth LINKS plaques after school Tuesday.
The periodic LINKS (Local Individuals Nurturing Kids and Schools) was designed by the DUHS staff to recognize individuals and businesses for meritorious service benefiting students and teachers.
Cass County Undersheriff Rick Behnke was the sixth recipient April 26.
The faculty honored Daily News Managing Editor John Eby March 8.
The first LINKS Awards were presented May 21, 2002, to Kathy McDonald, former owner of Movies Movies, and Pat Tushla, for volunteer work in the media center.
Signal Travel was honored Oct. 22, 2002. Patrick and Patricia Murphy of Murphy's Flowers were recognized in 2003.
Her hypnosis is guided meditation to a deep state of relaxation where the subconscious can be put to work solving problems.
Katlun, a former school bus driver who opened Mind Over Matters at her home north of Dowagiac in 2001, said in a 2002 interview, "Hypnotherapy is very exciting to teach and my single greatest motivator is client success. There is something very heady, yet humbling, in helping someone reach a goal they couldn't reach alone."
Frantz said D&R makes it possible for students to wear apparel they design themselves.
