Dowagiac track teams finish second

The Dowagiac boys' and girls' track teams finished second to host South Haven Monday in a non-conference tune up for this Friday's Division 2 regional.
South Haven scored 91 points to top Dowagiac (55), Lake Michigan Catholic (19) and Country Side Charter School (6) in the boys' meet.
The Lady Rams amassed 89 points to defeat Dowagiac (31), LMC (25) and Country Side Charter School (2).
Picking up first place finishes for the Chieftains were Isaiah Jones in the long jump (20-1.5), Sam Preston in the 800-meters (2:07.46) and Elijah Caldwell in the 200-meters (24.09).
Placing second were Kyle Bennett in the discus, Sam Preston in the pole vault, Ryan Withorn in the shot put, Russell Sizemore in the 100- and 200-meters, Brad Lee in teh 1,600-meters, Konner Smith in the 300-meter hurdles and Jason Tabbert in the 3,200-meters.
Taking third were Caldwell in the 100-meters and Zach Roden in the 300-meter hurdles.
Ann O'Keefe was the lone Chieftain to earn a first place finish in the girls' meet as she won the pole vault with a height of 9-6.
Finishing second for the Chieftains were Ashley Urbanski in the pole vault, 100-meters and long jump.
Finishing third were Sade Nealey in the long jump and 100-meters, Samantha Stone in the 100-meter hurdles and Crissy Huff in the 1,600-meters.
Finishing fourth were Kate Duzynski in the discus and shot put, and Briana Wolverton in the 100-meters.
Dowagiac had its invitational meet at Allegan canceled on Friday night due to weather.
The Chieftain track teams will now head to Allegan on Friday for the Division 2 regional meet.
The pole vault is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. with other events to follow.
The running finals will be held in the early evening with the meet running like a regular dual meet for the finals.
