CASSOPOLIS - Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports his deputies handled a personal-injury accident at 4:39 p.m. Friday, May 13, on Decatur Road, north of Marcellus Highway in Volinia Township.
A vehicle driven by Drexel Akin, 61, of Niles, was traveling north on Decatur Road when the driver swerved into the southbound lane to avoid a deer.
The vehicle struck an oncoming vehicle driven by Renee Robinson, 18.
Robinson was transported by ambulance to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment of her injuries. Akin did not sustain any injuries.
Dowagiac ambulance and Wayne Township Fire Department responded and assisted at the accident scene.
Both Akin and Robinson were wearing their seatbelts.
Alcohol was not a factor.
