NILES - Those who attend the Big 16 Conference track meet at St. Joseph High School on Wednesday, May 25 will be treated to a preview of the state finals in Division 1 and Division 2.
That is because the same athletes who are winning medals in the conference meet will be the ones who will be placing at the state track meet in June.
The meet will start with field events at noon.
The pole vault (boys and girls together), high jump (boys and girls together), long jump (boys and girls together), boys' shot put and girls' discus will get under way at that time.
The boys' discus and girls' shot put will follow the completion of the noon events.
Running preliminaries are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. in the 100- and 200-meters, as well as the 110- and 100-meter hurdles.
The 3,200-meter relay finals will also be run at 1 p.m.
The semifinals in the dashes and hurdles will be held after the running of the 3,200-meter relay.
The finals in all running events are scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
Admission is $5 per person and no league passes will be accepted at the meet.
