EAU CLAIRE - The Dowagiac varsity golf team picked up its first victory of the season with a 244-283 win over visiting South Haven on Friday at Indian Lake Hills Golf Course.
Freshman Carly Gantt earned medalist honors as she fired a 49 for the Chieftains.
Dowagiac also got a 62 from Tonya Scherer, a 66 from Brittany Munson and a 67 from Brooke Lamb. Taylor Townsend, a sophomore, shot 74. Aislinn Frantz finished with an 80.
South Haven was led by Alexandra Merrill's 68.
Dowagiac will return to Big 16 Conference West Division play today when it travels to Benton Harbor for a jamboree at Blossom Trails.
St. Joseph is hosting the event which begins at 3:30 p.m.
