NILES - When thinking of a student who really deserves to be recognized for who they are and what they do, Brandywine Middle School/High School Principal Chris Banaszak could think of no one better than Kristin Bivens to represent the senior class as this week's Star Student.
Kristin is involved in many activities at the high school. She plays flute in the band and is a member of student council, National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society and the Dutch Exchange Program.
As part of the Dutch Exchange Program, Kristin and nine of her fellow Brandywine students traveled to the Netherlands where they stayed for two weeks and traveled around the country and to Paris.
What Kristin likes most about attending Brandywine High School is the fact that it is small and you really get to know your fellow class mates.
Kristin added that the teachers also get to know you on a more of a personal level, which helps out a great deal in the classroom.
Upon graduation Kristin plans to attend either Southwestern Michigan College or St. Mary's College. She is thinking about majoring in education to become a history teacher.
Outside of school Kristin enjoys spending time with friends and family, watching movies, and talking online.
Hoyt added that Kristin is a really loyal person, who is easy to work with and that she is a really good person, that you can depend on in any situation.
Banaszak added that Kristin always brings a smile to the faces of the people she is around, she never complains, is very focused, keeps things in perspective and has the attitude that everyday is important.
Kristin is the daughter of Sue Bivens.
