Eddies slip past ‘Cats

The Edwardsburg Eddies scored a run in the bottom of the sixth to nip visiting Brandywine Monday afternoon, 2-1.
Brandywine jumped out to a 1-0 lead after one inning of play, however, Edwardsburg (5-1, 3-0 Lakeland Conference) tied the score in the bottom of the second and then won the game in the bottom of the sixth.
Zac Rooney picked up the victory for the Eddies as he tossed a five-hitter with seven strike outs and a walk. Edwardsburg finished with six hits, led by Jeff Mortimer's two hits and an RBI.
Korey Bridges took the loss for the Bobcats as he allowed six hits with eight strike outs and a walk. Bridges also had two hits.
The second game was halted in the eighth inning tied at 5-5.
