O’Keefe, Bennett win pole vault at Paw Paw invite

The Dowagiac girls' track team finished second and the boys' team eighth at the Paw Paw Invitational on Saturday.
Vicksburg took home the title in the girl's portion of the invitational with 108 points. Bangor was second with 94 points. Dowagiac finished with 26 points.
Anne O'Keefe was the lone Chieftain to bring home a championship as she won the pole vault with a jump of 9-feet-6.
Katy Stuppy grabbed a pair of second place finishes for the Chieftains as she ran 13.7 in the 100-meters and 28.0 in the 200-meters.
Bangor won the boy's portion of the meet with 154.5 points. South Haven was second with 101 points. Dowagiac finished with 20 oints.
Kyle Bennett was the lone Chieftain to take a first place as he won the pole vault with a personal best jump fo 12-6.
Sam Preston was third in the 800-meters with a time of 2:10.5. Ryan Withorn finished fifth in the shot put with a throw of 38-9, while the 3,200-meters relay team of Brad Lee, Clay Hewitt, Nate Long and Preston finished fifth with a time of 9:38.8.
Dowagiac will be back on the track Friday at the Plainwell Invitational.
