Wow! What a busy time of the year it is. I knew there would be a lot of games this time of year, but I never imagined it would get this crazy.
It's nice to see some familiar athletes back in action and some new faces I haven't seen yet. I also run into a lot of the same people, coaches, parents and fans from other sports season.
A lot of people have probably noticed that I will pop in at games, snap some pictures, jot down some notes and jet.
The other day when I got an email saying, "You must not enjoy our teams much anymore because you don't sit through the whole games like you did during winter sports!" I had to laugh, then explain why I do that.
I enjoy watching every team and every sport. Some I may not quite understand yet, but I do enjoy watching and learning them. After all, I did grew up around sports so why wouldn't I love them!
As much as I would love to just sit and relax and watch one game and as easy as it would be on me, my schedule doesn't allow it.
Most nights during the week there are more than seven events going on in this area. Though all of them aren't played at home, three or more are.
I'm sure you're thinking, "Oh three isn't a lot of games to cover," but it is! Especially when you have to drive here, there and everywhere!!
And that's just the start. When I walk into the office in the morning, my desk is loaded with results waiting to be typed up for that day's paper. And trust me, those aren't just five minute jobs!
As much driving, typing and work it is, I really do enjoy it and appreciate all of the people helping Scott and myself out. Whether its sending results, sending an email on how a team did or just leaving a message about upcoming events, it's a big help! I mean BIG! I can't send my thank yous enough.
We can't attend every single event. Though we do try, it would almost be impossible to get to every one. So nine times out of 10 results are our best friends. Without them we wouldn't be able to highlight some of the area teams and individuals who are doing very well.
I know I made mention of this in previous columns, but if anyone is ever at a game and snaps some really great action shots, send them our way. We can always use them. Or if you just feel like writing about how good or bad a game went, let us know.
We strive to get the best coverage for all area sports and want to get recognition for all of them.
Thanks again to everyone who sends in results and feel welcome to send anything you feel should be in the paper or that you would like to see.
