BROOKLYN - ARCA President Ron Drager has seen plenty of changes to Michigan International Speedway since the series began running at the track in July of 1980, but 2005 may hold the most exciting year for the series at the 2-mile oval based just an hour from ARCA headquarters in Temperance.
Drager and his staff visited MIS yesterday to get a close up look at the progress of the largest renovation project in the history of MIS and in particular the new race control area ARCA will use during their two events at MIS, the June 17 and August 19 Hantz Group 200.
They also visited MIS to discuss the new schedule that will allow the stock car racing series to kick off both NASCAR NEXTEL Cup weekend tripleheaders in 2005.
It will be the first time the ARCA RE/MAX Series will run two races in one season at MIS since the 2001 racing season.
It will be the sixth time the series has run twice at MIS in one season, with the 1980, 1991, 1996, 1997 and the aforementioned 2001 season.
Along with the mass improvements, Drager also believes the ARCA RE/MAX Series schedule and pricing make both Fridays a great value for fans, with tickets just $15. Both June 17 and August 19 include NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series practice preceding the Hantz Group 200 in June and August.
Tickets to all 2005 events at MIS are on sale now, including the season-opening Father's Day weekend, which includes exciting enhancements to the weekend schedule, including the ARCA RE/MAX Series Hantz Group 200 on June 17, the MIS June debut of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series on June 18 and the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series on June 19.
Tickets can be purchased by logging on to www.MISpeedway.com, or by calling the MIS ticket hotline at 1-800-354-1010.
