COLOMA - After getting snowed out twice, Dowagiac finally got a chance to match up against Coloma Tuesday night.
The Chieftains and Comets both wanted to get a look at each other in preparation for the upcoming state tournament.
Dowagiac saw exactly what it wanted to in a 48-21 victory over the host Comets.
Dowagiac took control of the match after it was all tied up at 21 heading into the 112-pound match.
The Chieftains got three pins, a forfeit and a decision over the final five bouts to pull away to the easy victory.
Nathan Cottrell got things going the Chieftains way with a pin of Kyle Elston at 112-pounds in 3:17.
The Chieftains (24-7) got a forfeit victory at 119-pounds to extend their advantage to 33-21.
Nathan Long followed with a pin at 125-pounds, while Jason Krukowski sealed the victory with a pin at 130-pounds.
Terry Prowoznik capped off the night with a decision against Coloma's Nick Mannino at 135-pounds.
Also winning for the Chieftains on Tuesday were Mike Kasper at 140-pounds, Jeromy Northrop at 145-pounds, Justin Desjardin at 152-pounds, Rob Duszynski at 189-pounds and Tony Stewart at 275-pounds.
Desjardin and Stewart won by pin fall.
Dowagiac travels to Battle Creek Harper Creek for its final regular season match tonight.
The Chieftains will travel to St. Joseph on Saturday for the Big 16 Conference individual tournament.
Dowagiac will host the Division 3 District Wrestling Tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 16 beginning at 6 p.m. (see related story page 10)
