Berrien one of four counties to share $342,000 for emergency aid

WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Congressman Fred Upton (R-St. Joseph) today announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has awarded $342,635 in Emergency Food and Shelter (EFS) grants to four counties within the sixth district. The funding will be used to supplement food, shelter, rent, mortgage and utility assistance programs for people with non-disaster related emergencies in Southwest Michigan.
The entire state will receive nearly $6.57 million.
Berrien County 's share in 2004 will be $111,652. The county received $91,983 in 2003.
