Police investigating strong-armed robbery in Milton Township

CASSOPOLIS - Cass County Sheriff Joseph M. Underwood Jr. reports his deputies are investigating a strong-armed robbery that occurred at 9:10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 21, on Beebe Road in Milton Township.
The victim, Lavon Reum, 83, reported she was getting into her vehicle to go to church when a middle-aged white male described as 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-10, chunky build, unshaven, wearing a plaid T-shirt with short sleeves reached into her vehicle and took her purse, removing her wallet and then the currency.
The subject then got into a newer red mini-van and fled the area.
Officers from the Michigan State Police and Edwardsburg Police Department assisted in the investigation.
In an unrelated incident, the Cass County Sheriff's Department reports detectives with the Cass County Drug Enforcement Team executed a search warrant at 1:35 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, in the 200 block of S. O'Keefe Street in the village.
Detectives located approximately $450 worth of marijuana, packaging material, scales and two firearms.
A 17-year-old was arrested for possession of marijuana.
This subject was booked in the Cass County Jail and will be arraigned in Fourth District Court today.
This case remains under investigation at this time. Further warrants will be sought this week.
Detectives were assisted at the scene by the Cass County Sheriff's Office uniformed division, Cass County detectives and the Cassopolis Police Department.
In another unrelated incident, Dowagiac Police Chief Tom Atkinson reports that at 3:48 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 20, officers from his department responded to the 200 block of Grand Boulevard regarding a stabbing.
Investigation revealed that a Theodore White, 22, of Dowagiac, received multiple stab wounds.
He had been taken to Borgess-Lee Memorial Hospital for treatment and was subsequently airliftedto Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
Police said his condition was not believed to be life-threatening.
Suspects in this incident have been identified and the matter is being forwarded to the Cass County Prosecutor's Office.
City officers were assisted at the scene by officers from the Cass County Sheriff's Office, Michigan State Police and Pokagon Band Tribal Police. Investigation continues.
