NILES - Michigan State Police found an employee of United Fixtures, 2070 S. Third St., Niles, who had been reported missing in the woods near the company's factory in Niles Township, Monday evening.
Troopers from the Michigan State Police Niles Post found James Stout, 25, of Niles, lying on the ground, conscience and breathing, approximately 200 yards northwest of the factory with injuries sustained when he fell from his tree stand.
The tree stand was mounted about 35 feet up in a nearby tree.
Stout was reported missing at approximately 4 p.m. It was believed Stout was last seen Nov. 13 at 10 p.m. and his vehicle was seen in the parking lot of the United Fixtures factory on Nov. 14 at 8 a.m.
Employees informed police it was believed Stout was hunting in the woods adjacent to the factory.
After Stout was found, he was transported to Memorial Hospital in South Bend, Ind., for treatment of his injuries sustained in the fall. Stout was in serious condition at the intensive care unit of the hospital on Tuesday.
Management from United Fixtures informed police that Stout was previously told he was not allowed to hunt on the property and did so without their permission.
